MRT Corp, or Mass Rapid Transit Corporation is the developer and operated of the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) service in Kuala Lumpur. The company is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance which has become one of the most crucial public transportation services in the capital.

Prominence of MRT

The MRT service is made up of 2 major lines namely the Kajang Line which is fully operational and the Putrajaya Line which is currently under construction. As a major public rail service, it connects the major suburbs of the Klang Valley.

MRT is interconnected with the other rail services like the RapidKL LRT and KL Monorail which provides seamless traveling for the commuters. Each day, it ferries tens of thousands of passengers who commute between work and play.

Advertising exposure in MRTWhat makes the MRT such an exciting advertising option is that they can reach a strong group of the target audience. Those who are mobile, young and working are among the largest groups taking MRT each day. As such, advertisers find media spaces a good and value-for-money option when it comes to marketing.

Media spaces by MRT Corp

The media spaces found in the premises of MRT Corp are operated by certain concessionaires. Generally, media spaces are quite standard while brand owners can innovate under certain circumstances. Those that are available include those below:

Outdoor Advertising

This mainly involves spaces that can be seen on the exterior parts of locations like stations as well as along the tracks. The medium that is used include beamers, digital towers, Lumi pillars and many others.

These locations are highly effective as they are exposed to commuters who spend some time around them each day (either waiting for a train or heading somewhere).

Train Advertising

This mainly involves advertising space that is seen both inside and outside the trains. Within the train, media would include top overhead panels, in-door panels and handholds. Train advertising is widely regarded to be very effective because commuters spend at least 5 minutes in an idle position.

Meanwhile, brand owners are able to advertise on the outside (exterior) parts of the train as well.

Station Naming Rights

All the MRT train stations have their own aura and characteristics. This means they appeal to a specific group of the demographic profiles of consumers depending on their locations. As such, it is possible to derive effective brand associations with a certain target market.

Corporations could submit a proposal to name a station after their brand name after fulfilling the requirements and specifications by MRT Corp.
