Invitation to join Membership with MCCA, a member of ASIA PACIFIC CORPORATE COUNSEL ALLIANCE (APCCA)

IN-HOUSE COUNSEL WORLDWIDE (ICW)

MCCA is a member of In-House Counsel Worldwide which has thousands of members worldwide and is growing exponentially. The other members are:

  • CCCA – Canadian Corporate Counsel Association
  • ILANZ – In-house Lawyers Association of New Zealand
  • CLASA – Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa
  • SCCA – Singapore Corporate Counsel Association
  • C&I Group – Commerce & Industry Group of the UK
  • ASDA – Arbeitsgemeinschaft Syndikusanwalte im Deutschen Ansaltverein (Germany)
  • AFJE – Association française des Juristes d’entreprise (France)
  • FDJ – Fórum de Departamentos Jurídicos (France)
  • IJE – Institut des Juristes d’Entreprise (Belgium)
  • ICCA – Indian Corporate Counsel Association
  • LSS – Law Society of Scotland

Benefits associated with membership:

Individual members having business in the relevant countries will have access to the networking and local expertise of the relevant national organisation. Each organisation permits the members of the other associations to attend their functions at discounted rates (usually as though they were members of the organisation itself )

Each organisation is invited to present a topic at member organizations’ respective annual conferences and to contribute to each other’s publications.

Joint projects and reciprocal access for the benefit of all member organizations and their members. Areas being looked at include journals, precedents, research, surveys etc.

MCCA is also a member of APCCA. Other current and incoming partners (as at the date of this posting) include:

  • ICCA Indonesia – Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association.
  • ICCA – Indian Corporate Counsel Association.
  • LMCP- Legal Management Council of the Philippines.

Benefits of membership are similar to those described above but focused on regional cooperation and support in line with growing trade ties and business.

The Malaysian Corporate Counsel Association is a body registered under the Societies Act, 1966. Established in August 2006, membership in the MCCA is open to any person who holds a degree in law from a tertiary institution who is not in professional legal practice. The MCCA’s vision is to be the premier organisation for the promotion and facilitation of networking, knowledge-sharing and continuing legal education for the corporate counsel community in Malaysia and the enhancement of the community’s profile among the legal fraternity and the general public.

The MCCA’s vision is to be the premier organisation for the promotion and facilitation of networking, knowledge-sharing and continuing legal education for the corporate counsel community in Malaysia thereby enhancing their value to any organisation in which they serve, and raising their profile among the legal fraternity and the general public.

Mission

The MCCA is committed to furthering the interests of its members by:

  • introducing members to a network of like-minded professionals and leveraging on their strengths on issues of mutual interest;
  • providing access to opportunities for professional development on topics of interest through events such as seminars, workshops, conferences as well as periodic updates;
  • liaising with selected professional bodies locally and overseas for mutual benefit; and
  • providing a platform from which to develop and enhance the profile of the Association by highlighting the role of its members as solution providers to the organisations in which they serve.
