The New Klang Valley Expressway or NKVE is one of the major expressways in the Klang Valley where it connects the people of Klang and Shah Alam to the Kuala Lumpur city center.
New Klang Valley Expressway is a major expressway linking Klang Valley suburbs, industrial areas, logistics routes and northern-western urban movement. It connects key areas such as Shah Alam, Subang, Damansara, Sungai Buloh, Klang and broader highway networks. The corridor is important for commuters, commercial fleets, port-linked traffic, airport-side movement and cross-town travel. It should be treated as a highway corridor, with no cost-of-living field. Commercial value comes from traffic volume, interchange access, logistics visibility, petrol services, roadside F&B and nearby township catchments.
Along the entire stretch of NKVE, it passes by some of the top satellite cities and suburban areas like Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Sungai Buloh, Sri Petaling, Puchong, Cheras and Ampang. It starts from the western part of Klang Valley at Bukit Raja and Klang and then passes by Subang and Damansara before reaching the city centre via Jalan Duta.
Demographics and users
The NKVE is used by 5.7 million vehicles each year. It is mainly used by those travelling to work from their homes on weekdays along the suburban areas mainly because this expressway mainly serves the Klang Valley.
As such, during the morning and evening rush hours, the intersection leading to the likes of Sri Petaling, Subang Jaya and Puchong are at super peak.
