How Virtual Outlook Built a Digital Billboard Network Across Klang Valley and Penang

Where traditional operators sell painted posters on steel gantries, Virtual Outlook sells slots on LED screens. Every site in the portfolio is digital out-of-home, sold by the 15-second rotation rather than the year.

The company runs 11 billboards across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang, backed by a team with over 18 years of combined outdoor media experience and an office in KL Eco City.

Billboard Formats in the Virtual Outlook Network

Portrait Digital LED — 20ft x 30ft

The fleet standard. Roughly fifteen of the network’s sites use this vertical face, which suits product shots, single-line offers and vertical video repurposed from social campaigns.

  • Resolution is 720px x 1200px, one-sided
  • Operates 18 hours daily, from 6:30am to 12:30am
  • Minimum guarantee of 216 exposures per day on a 15-second slot
  • Rental starts around RM25,000 per slot at Mid Valley, Federal Highway
  • Found at Sungai Besi, Jalan Kuching, Mont Kiara, MRR2 and Kota Damansara

Landscape Digital LED — 40ft x 15ft

The horizontal counterpoint, currently unique to Penang. The wide aspect works for brand lockups and multi-element creative that a portrait face would crowd.

  • Resolution is 1056px x 512px, one-sided
  • Sited at the Jalan Tanjong Tokong, Persiaran Gurney and Jalan Bagan Jermal junction
  • Traffic count of 100,000 to 150,000 vehicles daily
  • Same 18-hour operating window and 216 daily exposure guarantee
  • Rental is about RM30,000 per slot

Twin-Panel Mega LED — 70ft x 34.5ft plus 27ft x 34.5ft

The flagship. Two synchronised faces wrap the Bangsar Shopping Centre frontage, making it the largest and most expensive placement in the entire network.

  • Combined resolution of 3680px x 1320px
  • Captures 120,000 to 150,000 daily viewers plus pedestrian traffic
  • Operates 17 hours daily, 7am to 12am, with 204 guaranteed exposures
  • Rental is about RM80,000 per slot, over triple the portrait standard
  • Faces traffic from Old Klang Road towards Mid Valley and Jalan Syed Putra

Upcoming and Partner Inventory

Beyond the live network, two additional tiers are listed. These extend reach without the operator owning every structure, a common model among mid-sized digital players.

  • Four upcoming sites at TTDI, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Sungai Besi
  • Partner inventory including KL Leisure Mall and EkoCheras Mall
  • All new builds follow the 20ft x 30ft portrait spec
  • Availability is slot-based, with pricing that shifts during Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Christmas

Where the Screens Sit

Mid Valley and Federal Highway

The commercial heart of the network. These faces intercept westbound commuters approaching the Mid Valley exit, one of the densest retail catchments in the Klang Valley.

  • Mid Valley, Federal Highway at 150,000 to 200,000 vehicles daily
  • Mid Valley, Jalan Syed Putra and KL City Centre, Jalan Syed Putra
  • Old Klang Road, Mid Valley covering the southern approach
  • Delivered campaigns here for Daikin among others

Bangsar and Jalan Damansara

The premium corridor. High household income, heavy mall footfall and government traffic converge here, which is reflected in the pricing at the flagship site.

  • Bangsar Shopping Centre, the twin-panel mega format
  • KL Sentral / Carcosa and Parliament, both on Jalan Damansara
  • TTDI and Jalan Bangsar listed as upcoming builds
  • Live campaigns have included BMW, Chery, Unifi and Magnum

Sungai Besi and the Southern Gateway

Airport and southern-corridor traffic. This cluster catches vehicles moving between Kuala Lumpur, Seremban and the Bandar Malaysia development zone throughout the day.

  • Sungai Besi, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar
  • Bandar Malaysia, Jalan Sungai Besi
  • Jalan Sungai Besi listed under both upcoming and partner inventory
  • Hosted the Lazada campaign on the Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar face

City North and Jalan Kuching

The northern spine into the city centre. Traffic here is commuter-heavy in both peaks, feeding the CBD from Kepong, Selayang and the surrounding townships.

  • Jalan Kuching, Dataran Merdeka
  • PWTC, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar
  • A second Jalan Kuching face under upcoming and partner listings
  • Directly overlaps the corridor where static gantry operators hold their densest inventory

Damansara Ring and Suburban Selangor

Outer coverage. These sites reach affluent residential catchments rather than transient highway traffic, making them useful for property, automotive and lifestyle brands.

  • Sprint Highway, Damansara Tol
  • Kota Damansara, Persiaran Surian
  • Mont Kiara, Sri Hartamas
  • Selangor Golf Club, Jalan Bukit Bintang and MRR2, Ampang

Gurney, Penang

The only site outside the Klang Valley. It anchors the network’s northern presence at a junction that funnels tourist, retail and residential traffic simultaneously.

  • Landscape 40ft x 15ft face, the only one of its size
  • 100,000 to 150,000 daily viewers
  • Positioned at the Tanjong Tokong and Bagan Jermal junction
  • Rental of about RM30,000 per slot, mid-range for the network
