As the name implies, Jalan Kangar-Alor Setar is the main road that connects the state capital with its counterpart in Kedah, Alor Setar. This road is used each day by vehicles and motorists to commute between the residential areas and outskirts of Perlis with the town centre while those coming from Kedah will use this road as well.
Landmarks and Subroads
Jalan Kangar-Alor Setar is a very long road in Perlis. It actually cuts through the entire state coming in from the south through Simpang Ampat. It will then pass through Lebuhraya Changlun-Kuala Perlis that connects to the east and west of the state before passing by Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda.
Access between Perlis and Kedah
It will then pass by the Research Cluster of Universiti Malaysia Perlis before reaching the town centre.
Demographics
This road is mainly used by working adults and a large segment of people in the government service who travel from the south and east towards the town center each day for work.
Traffic Conditions
As Perlis is a very small state, you will notice that traffic conditions here are usually moderate to low throughout the day. However, the stretch along the government offices in Jalan Kangar would experience peak traffic flow during the morning and evening rush hours as well as during the afternoons.
