AKLEH is short for Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway. As the name implies, this highway is used to connect Ampang with the Kuala Lumpur city center and is the first elevated highway in the country. AKLEH is used by 2 million vehicles and provides an important link for public and private vehicles of the Klang Valley.
From the west, AKLEH starts at the Jalan Sultan Ismail interchange which will then run in parallel with Jalan Tun Razak. In fact, it does run above Jalan Tun Razak at some point before connecting with the Middle Ring Road 2 and then terminating at Jalan Ampang around Jalan Kolam Ayer Lama.
The major segment of people travelling along AKLEH are urban vehicle owners who are from the middle to high income group. This comes mainly from the group of residents who are in the Ampang vicinity while AKLEH is used by those who are travelling among the satellite towns of the Klang Valley.
