Restaurants are essential services
Food services will always be around and you need to be on top of your game if you want to beat the virus. If you are a restauranteur, you will need to start looking into several aspects that will get you through the current pandemic so that you can be around after it too.
- Get into building your online reputation – If you haven’t been online much, then it is time to do so. Start your accounts on social media like Facebook and Instagram. Share images of your dishes. It makes a LOT OF DIFFERENCE when you post nice images. Do this daily and post as many as you can so that your customers know what you are offering. Be mindful of comments posted as they could mean interested customers who are watching your space.
- Social distancing and SOPs – The biggest concerns your customers will have now is hygiene and safety. Show them that you are serious and committed to doing what is required. Record videos on how your food is being prepared before you serve them. Ensure that your employees are wearing proper PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) when preparing and cooking food. You should use LIVE videos if you can.
- Delivery services – You must now focus on food delivery. This can be done easily through delivery apps like Grab Express, LaLaMove or DeliverEAT, among many others. After all, the other restauranteur is already on board. You need to inform your customers that you have this in place so that they know they can make their orders whenever they need to. On top of that, inform them that you can make deliveries too if they order directly from you.
- Contactless services – When it comes to service, you need to show how you are going to reduce human touches. This is extremely important. From the handling of food to payment, you need to provide all the services and use platforms like online banking, e-wallets and funds transfer.
- Show your commitment – On your social network platforms, show that you are not all about business. You have to educate your customers or anyone else watching how far you would go to ensure that you are compliant with all the SOPs and your commitment to ensuring the highest hygiene in your business. This makes a lot of difference once you get back to normal operations.
