Rozita Che Wan


Such is the glamorous looks that Rozita Che Wan brings with her wherever she goes. Rozita binti Abu Bakar was born in 1973 and comes from Alor Setar, Kedah. She is one of the most popular icons in the entertainment industry who has helmed some of the top movies and shows. Besides acting, she is also a TV host, influencer, a great cook and a mother of 3.

Early beginnings in the industry

She is more fondly known as Che Ta and is married to Zain Saidin. She is known for her works in comedy and has been involved in many areas in the public eye. Che Ta’s role in Kiah Perkasam, a comedy series made her a household name.

So popular and good is she in these roles that she has been nominated at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian and Pelakon TV Wanita Terbaik Anugerah Skrin in 2011. It must also be noted that she is a very versatile actress where she was in the running for the Pelakon Pembantu TV Wanita Terbaik Anugerah Skrin in 2008 for her role in Masiah Ada Harapan and Wasiat Fitrah.

Che Ta is the second of 7 children. She started out in her career in 1992 as a flight stewardess with Malaysia Airlines, a job she took on for about 3 years. She then got involved in modeling for a while before entering the entertainment industry, together with her sister Ayu Raudhah, they ventured into acting and she would land on the drama ‘Cinta Terhalang’. Throughout the process, she was casted into commercials with Petronas and many others too. This expounded her reach, resonating and associating very well among Malaysians from all walks of life.

From acting to social media and other areas

To date, she has in her portfolio more than 60 shows of which a majority of them are comedies. In fact, she roped in almost 20 dramas in 2007 alone. Among the titles that she was involved in include Sesuci Cinta Sofiya, Jelatan and Manjalara.

Kiah Perkasam went on for 3 seasons between 2010 and 2013.

Throughout the years that followed, Che Ta continued to chart her career in acting although there were episodes when she attempted to retire. In 2012, she ventured into hosting were together with Erra Fazira and Raja Azura, managed the talk show Primadona.

She also joined the Masterchef Selebriti Malaysia in 2013 where she further expanded her popularity as a cook. She would then take up the producer’s role with her husband through Padusi Pictures with shows like Rahsia Memikat Suami and Aku Yang Masak Kau Yang Panas which have garnered very positive reviews. On social media meanwhile, her Instagram profile reports more than 5.1 million followers and is considered to be one of the most influential Malaysians around today.
